An official NUFC announcement (see below) on Wednesday evening revealed the interim appointment to take charge of Newcastle United Women.
This follows the firing of Becky Langley on Monday.
Newcastle United reveal that assistant manager Claire Ditchburn will take over as interim manager.
Former Newcastle United (men’s team) defender Peter Ramage will assist Claire Ditchburn for the time being.
With heavy investment by the club’s owners in the Newcastle United Women’s team set-up and a golden opportunity for promotion this season, with up to three of the twelve second-tier women’s teams gaining promotion to an expanded Super League this season. It is no surprise that Becky Langley was sacked after winning just one of the first six league matches this season.
Newcastle United official announcement – October 22, 2025:
‘Newcastle United Women can confirm that assistant manager Claire Ditchburn will lead the team on an interim basis.
She will be assisted by former Magpies defender and current assistant loan player manager Peter Ramage.
Goalkeeping coach Stephen Brass and first-team coach Luke Thomas-Arayo will continue in their respective roles.
The team have now started preparations for our trip to Ipswich Town Women on Sunday 2 November after the international break.”
