NEW YORK (AP)-A police officer shot out of service and injured a man at Pennsylvania station, the most important intercity railway station in New York City and the busiest station in the US, the authorities said.
The police responded to a call of 911 at 7 pm on Wednesday and reported that a 32-year-old man had been shot in the part of the station of Midtown Manhattan, a complex that includes Penn Station, a police spokesperson said.
The non -geeched man was transported to a hospital and was in a stable state, the police said.
No additional information about the shooting was immediately released, including what led to it.
Video showed a major police -presence on a part of the station that serves the Long Island Rail Road.
People should avoid the area because of the investigation, the police said, warning for delays and traffic.
The railway station under Madison Square Garden can serve around 600,000 passengers every day via Amtrak, the New York metro system and two regional railway lines – the Long Island Rail Road and New Jersey Transit.
