President Barack Obama gave a group of war heroes a surprise they will never forget.
The former The president surprised a flight of Korean and Vietnam War veterans a flight of honour from Madison, Wisconsin, to Washington, D.C., ahead of Veterans Day, according to a video he posted to X.
“Ahead of Veterans Day, I was honored to welcome a flight of veterans and their families as they arrived in DC. To all who have bravely served our country, thank you and your family for your extraordinary service. The sacrifices you have all made to protect our country will be honored today and every day,” Obama posted next to the video on X.

Obama boarded the plane and shared a special message for the veterans on the plane’s intercom.
“Hello everyone. As we approach Veterans Day, I just wanted to stop by to thank you for your extraordinary service. To you, your families, the sacrifices you have all made to protect our country are something that will always be honored, and we are deeply grateful,” Obama tells the veterans as they land in DC in the video.
The veterans flew to DC on behalf of the Honor Flight Network, a nonprofit organization that provides flights for veterans and their families to visit monuments in the nation’s capital.

“Participating in an Honor Flight trip gives veterans the opportunity to share this momentous event with other comrades, remember the fallen and share their stories and experiences with other veterans. Honored veterans always travel for free, thanks to generous donations to our organization.” their website reads.
According to their website, the nonprofit has flown more than 300,000 veterans to DC over the past two decades.
Obama also used his Medium account to reflect on the meeting with the veterans and thank everyone who served in the U.S. military for their service.
“To all those who have courageously served our country, I want to thank you and your family for your extraordinary service. The sacrifices you have all made to protect our country will be honored today and every day.” said Obama.
The Honor Flight Network did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
