Gabe Perreault will Skate in the top six In the NY Rangers lines tonight, next to Mika Zibanejad and Will Cuylle. Zibanejad will center this line while the rangers navigate by the JT Miller injury, which can be a good thing because it opens a different wing spot for the Perreault/Brett Berard struggle. Noah Laba is also in the line -up tonight while he and Perreault continue to impress the camp. Berard does not play tonight and seems to be a lock for the opening evening.

The third rule tonight could be the third rule of Rangers to start the season, assuming Mike Sullivan holds with his desire to have the third line served as the closing line. I wonder if he will eventually come from that approach when children such as Laba, Perreault and maybe even start to run Edstrom. There is room to turn the third line into a sheltered scorel line, where the fourth rule serves as the Shutdown line.
Do not forget that, as always, the selection/rolls to start the season is not what they will be to complete the season.
