The Rangers travel to Pittsburgh for their first of a back-to-back, the second of a three-in-four and the second of a four-in-six. The schedule is condensed with the Olympics in February, and to compensate, the Rangers have been playing every other night for most of the season. They now have to compensate for the loss of Vincent Trocheck for a few weeks with a minor shake-up.
The Blueshirts will look to get a little revenge tonight after being eliminated by the Penguins in the home opener. The Rangers were fine defensively, holding Pittsburgh to just one high-danger opportunity, but the offense was slow and virtually nonexistent. Only Mika Zibanejad managed to create some good chances. The Penguins aren’t good, but they aren’t as bad as many thought. Still, the Rangers are better and should win.
