Let’s try this again, okay? The Rangers travel to Buffalo tonight in an attempt to score their first goal of the season following Tuesday night’s game against the Penguins. The Rangers played well defensively, but were able to generate everything offensively. With only one major chance of danger on Tuesday night, the only way is up. It’s hard to imagine the Rangers generating just one high-danger opportunity against Buffalo, but crazier things have happened.
Buffalo should be improved and they have a pretty strong blue line, even with their prized asset in the JJ Peterka trade (Michael Kesselring) sitting out with an injury. Buffalo doesn’t lack puck movers on the blue line, something the Rangers desperately need. Once Adam Fox leaves the ice, the Rangers will no longer have anyone who can consistently move the puck. Look for Buffalo to take advantage of that, and look for the Rangers to provide more support on low breakouts to address it.
