The NY Rangers kick off their 2025-2026 season by welcoming Muse to MSG as the new head coach of the Pittsburgh Penguins. In the meantime, the Rangers completed the coaching change by hiring Mike Sullivan after he said goodbye to Pittsburgh. The old coach Switcheroo is the main story tonight, but the other focus will be on the blue shirts that turn the page over the train wreck last year.
The expectation is that the Penguins will not be good at all, but they still have Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin, so that they can still beat teams. That means that the defense structure of the Rangers will have to learn fairly quickly, otherwise they will fall into the same fall as last year to look lost in their own goal.
There will be some growth pains with the team if they adapt to Sully, so patience is a good thing.
