Arsenal has announced that the Portuguese defender Nuno Tavares has moved on a permanent transfer to the Side Lazio Serie.
“The 25-year-old defender accompanied us from Benfica in July 2021 and made 28 performances in all competitions,” Arsenal said in a statement on Thursday. “He scored his first competitive goal for us in a 3-1 win against Manchester United in April 2022.
“Nuno, born in Lisbon, joined the Academy of Benfica in 2015 and spent six years at the club. After graduating from the first team, Nuno made his debut in style and lifted silverware at the age of 19 when Benfica Sporting Lissabon beat 5-0 in the Super Cup in August 2019.
“After his debut season in the club, the attacking full-back time spent in loan with Marseille, Nottingham Forest and Lazio. He made 39 performances in all competitions for Marseille during the 2022/23 season, scored six times to help Marseille to third place in Ligue 1.

“A loan spell with Nottingham Forest came the following season, where Nuno made a combined 12 performances in the Premier League and FA Cup. Nuno then spent the 2024/25 campaign on loan with Lazio, where he made 30 performances in all competitions. He assisted nine times in the first 10.
“During his time on loan in Lazio, Nuno got his first senior international limit when he came to the UEFA Nations League in the UEFA Nations League in November 2024 as a replacement in Portugal’s 5-1 victory against Poland.
“Everyone at Arsenal wants to thank Nuno for his contribution to the club and wish him the very best for the future.
“The deal is subject to the completion of the regulations processes.”
