NTPC Clean Energy Push: Power Giant investigates nuclear companies; Standalone and JV routes on the table – The Times of India

Staatsverbenit Power Major NTPC is planning to set up nuclear projects, both via Joint Ventures and on its own, chairman and director Gurdeep Singh said.In a business document, SingH said that NTPC cooperates with nuclear technology suppliers and government governments to explore projects independently. “We work together with various providers of nuclear technology and government governments to set up projects yourself,” he said.The installed capacity of NTPC Group is currently 82.926 MW in 53 NTPC stations and 53 joint venture or subsidiary factories, with coal, liquid fuel, hydro and solar energy.In December 2024, Singh had announced NTPC access to the nuclear energy segment, and called it crucial to stimulate the company’s non-fossil portfolio. Speaking at the ‘Bihar Business Connect 2024’ top in Patna, he had said that nuclear energy is expected to become extremely important for the energy sector 20-30 years later.As part of this push operationalized NTPC last year Anushakti Vidhyut Nigam LTD (Ashvini) – A joint venture at Nuclear Power Corporation of India LTD (NPCIL), where NPCIL 51% and NTPC owns 49%. The company has also set up a new subsidiary, NTPC Parmanu Urja Nigam LTD, as part of its long -term obligation to clean Baseload Power, Singh said.
