Payne Haas has taken on more responsibility both at home and on the pitch, with stunning results.

As the game’s most feared forward, Payne Haas, prepares for a blockbuster move down south, he has already set himself up for life away from the Broncos.

The 26-year-old has built a strong foundation off the field, raising a young family in Brisbane while becoming one of the most influential players in the NRL – with his off-field wealth growing by more than $850,000 as a result of two investment decisions.

Two years ago he bought a $3.55 million family home just minutes from Suncorp Stadium, home of the Broncos – a property that has soared in value amid the Queensland capital’s housing boom.

The house is one of the city’s hottest targets for families looking for a move-in ready home, in an area where house prices have risen 67 percent in the past five years.

Its current assessed value is $3.98 million, which represents a potential gain of $430,000 if Haas chooses to sell it when he moves to Sydney.

If rented, RP Data’s valuations suggest it could fetch around $1,100 per week ($4,766 per month). This is well below the monthly payments of $17,500 to $18,500 on a 30-year mortgage with a 20 percent down payment and a loan of approximately $2.84 million.

However, the key Broncos player is on a three-year deal worth an estimated $3.5 million, which, assuming about $1 million per year salary, would yield about $45,000 per month after taxes.

The house would make waves among buyers, especially young families, thanks to its location, high-end appliances, butler’s pantry and open-plan ground floor that connects the kitchen and living areas to an outdoor area with barbecue, pool and lawn.

It has multiple living rooms, five bedrooms and three bathrooms, complemented by a beautiful five-meter ceiling in the master suite.

The house is also within walking distance of a large shopping center, two large schools and two parks.

Haas also has a first real estate investment quietly simmering in the background: a two-bedroom, two-bathroom apartment in ‘Vive by Mosaic’ that he bought in August 2019 for $590,000.

The property is estimated to have appreciated $406,000 in value since purchase. It was last listed for rent in 2024 for $760 per week, although RP Data estimates it could fetch between $827 and $910 per week.

The apartment features open plan living areas, high ceilings, large windows, a gourmet style gallery kitchen, generous walk-in closets with smart bathrobes and a large private balcony ideal for entertaining.

It also has easy access to key drivers of rental housing demand, including the University of Queensland, the CBD, hospitals and the shopping and dining options of Indooroopilly and Toowong.

Haas is now a father figure to four children: his toddler Luckee, daughter Lalita who turns five this year, and his two younger brothers, Hans and Geejay. He took legal custody of his brothers after his mother was imprisoned in Queensland and his father was arrested in the Philippines.

On the field, Haas remains a key asset for the Broncos, who expected – and got – a strong turnaround in 2025 under coach Michael Maguire.

Haas turned up the heat during his time with the Blues in State of Origin under Maguire, cementing his status as one of the game’s most dominant props – even as he prepared for his blockbuster move to South Sydney at the end of the 2026 season.
