Manchester United was relentlessly put aside by Manchester City in the Derby on Sunday.
On the way to the game in the Etihad, Pep Guardiola had lost two after the jump and it had looked vulnerable. Add their injury misery here, and it was clear that Ruben Amorim had a big chance to capture a marker.
The head coach, however, adopted a safety Fircy approach and was hit 3-0. And after the game he even had the gall to say that the visitors played well and created many opportunities and had bad luck not to score.
Noussair Mazraoui, who came in before his first start of the new Premier League season, did not agree with the assessment of the Portuguese.
Mazraoui said nothing worked
He told clearly In TV That the team had difficulty creating clear opportunities and there were hardly any positive points to take back to Old Trafford.
“I feel bad. Disappointed in myself, in the team, and disappointed for the fans that we could not bring the performance we have done recently today.
“If you lose and you play well and you have the opportunities we have made in previous games, you can take some positives. But today was just not good enough.”
Refreshingly honest from the Moroccan, and a deviation from the stubborn attitude of his coach to repeat the same thing after each loss.
Noussair Mazraoui was clearly emotional, and when he was further pressed on what really went wrong, he refused to show fingers and claimed that the whole team was needed to get their act together.
Refreshingly honest, unlike Amorim
“It’s hard to say where things went specifically because you are always full of emotion after the game, so I always try to calm down and try to analyze the game.
“Otherwise I will just point fingers and often it is not something I now point out. We will analyze and improve it as a team.”
The next assignment from United is another tough assignment: Chelsea welcome to the Theater of Dreams next Saturday. Hopefully the Red Devils can bounce back.
Amorim is under pressure, and unless the fortunes of the team change rapidly, there seems to be only one inevitable outcome with regard to his future.
