Taiwo Awoniyi is from an induced coma and recovers well after undergoing urgent operation to a serious abdominal injury that could have been life -threatening.
Mail Sport revealed that the Nottingham Forest striker received Intensive Care on Wednesday evening after surgeons had started with what a complex operation was.
That procedure is now completed today as planned, and the player was checked in the hospital last night. It is understood that he was awake after the operation and with his family.
Awoniyi, 27, crashed in a post during Sunday’s 2-2 draw with Leicester and returned after a few minutes of treatment before he was removed. The Nigerian was taken to the hospital after the extent of the injury was confirmed on Monday.
An earlier explanation fell, the club fell – including Gary Neville from Sky Sports – who owned owner Evangelos Marinakis for entering the field and seemed to protest with Baas Nuno Espirito Santo after a draw damaged their hope for Champions League qualification.
Awoniyi could not be replaced because Forest had used their last available switch to replace Elliot Anderson with Jota Silva. In disturbing scenes he tried to continue bravely, but he could not move well with his side frantically looking for a late winner.

The star needed a few minutes of treatment, but played despite visible discomfort
With the forest reduced to 10 men, it seemed that Marinakis was full -time with Nuno in the context.
In a candid statement, however, the club moved to clarify the situation. It stated: ‘The severity of Taiwo Awoniyi’s injury is a powerful memory of the physical risks in the game and why the health and well -being of a player should always come first. This principle is not only the policy for us, it is the deeply held faith and conviction of our owner. For Evangelos Marinakis this is not only a club, it is family, and he gives that message in all of us.
“That’s why he was so personal and emotionally invested in the situation. His reaction was one of deep care, responsibility and emotional investments in one of our own.
“He not only saw it as an isolated incident, but something that reflected the values and unity of the entire team.
‘In such moments he demonstrates his leadership, not only through words, but through action and presence.
‘When he clearly saw our player in discomfort, it became increasingly difficult for him to stay on the sidelines.
‘It was instinctive, human and a reflection of how much this team and his people mean to him. He would do the same again if such an unfortunate event would ever perform again.
‘There was no confrontation, with Nuno or others, on the field or in the stadium. There was only shared frustration between all of us that the medical team should never have let the player continue.

‘In the light of this, we urge former coaches and players, and other public figures in the game, to resist the urge to hurry to judge and fake news online, especially if they do not have the full facts and context.
‘Uneven and poorly informed indignation for personal traction for social social media, nobody serves the least of all injured players. We call on these influential voices to show the same respect for players’ well -being that they often demand from others. Let concern for comment. ‘
The injury of Awoniyi came after Anthony Elanga, whose Kruis Awoniyi was hunting, was allowed to continue on the goal despite the fact that it was clearly offside.
Many have questioned the IFAB statement that assistant referees asks to postpone increasing the flag when there can be a goal core chance.
