Nottingham Forest kept their hopes of qualifying for the Europa League knockout stages alive after a dominant 3-0 win over Malmö on Thursday.
Ryan Yates, Arnaud Kalimuendo and Nikola Milenkovic all struck for Sean Dyche’s side, moving them up to 16th in the table, just two points clear of the top eight.
In a cagey opening, Nicolas Dominguez sent a close-range header just wide of the left post, before later drilling a low effort straight through the middle for Melker Ellborg.
But Forest found the opener in the 27th minute, when Yates held on to Milenkovic’s blocked shot on the edge of the penalty area and fired his low effort into the bottom right corner.
Ellbog denied Kalimuendo with a lovely low stop soon afterwards, but the Frenchman scored his first Forest goal on the stroke of half-time, smashing in from close range after the goalkeeper had stretched to deny Yates’ header.
Malmö offered little in the way of fighting back and found themselves three goals behind in the 58th minute. Milenkovic, who got in the way of Yates’ unmarked volley, fired in from the edge of the penalty area, with the goal surviving a VAR check.
From the restart, Callum Hudson-Odoi almost gave Forest a fourth, bending an excellent shot from the left side of the penalty area against the top of the crossbar as the hosts strolled to victory.

Data debrief: Dyche remains silent
Forest have found their feet under Dyche and have extended their winning streak to three games in all competitions, scoring three goals in each win.
But defensively they have held their own and have kept a clean sheet in all three Europa League matches under Dyche.
Their shutout was not in much danger as Malmö managed just one shot on target in the match, good for 0.06 expected goals (xG). The visitors also had no touch in the opponent’s penalty area.
At the other end, Yates led the attack and on another day he could have scored a hat-trick. He had a team-high four shots, three of which were on target, and also contested 10 matches (winning six).
