Badminton World Federation (BWF) Secretary-General Thomas Lund has the fear of an imminent crisis because of the current global shuttle deficiency, but acknowledged that manufacturers urgently have to solve supply chain problems and accelerate the introduction of advanced synthetic alternatives.Go further than the border with our YouTube channel. A recent report in the French newspaper L’Equipe attributed the shortage to changing food habits in China, with the demand for duck and goose meat that falls in favor of pork, in addition to a global increase in the popularity of badminton.

Do you believe that the global shuttle deficiency influences the popularity of badminton?
“We are aware of the global supply chain -challenges and subsequent increases from feathered shuttle prices that influence Badminton communities around the world,” Lund said in an e -mail interview with PTI. “And although we are of course worried about this barrier, in our dialogue with the large -scale manufacturers and their assessment of the situation, we do not believe that this is still at crisis level.”“The Badminton World Federation (BWF) is 100 percent dedicated to investing in and developing synthetic shuttelcocks for future sustainability of the sport and to guarantee the long -term accessibility for continuous generations of players. We have been dedicated to this project over the past 10 years,” Lund said. However, he underlined that the responsibility to resolve current delivery problems lies with producers. “BWF is not a shuttle manufacturer itself, and that is why the responsibility must still be on the ShuttleCock producers to enter into these supply chain challenges and to accelerate advanced synthetic options,” he added. The Federation has collaborated with manufacturers to test synthetic shuttelcocks for both competition and recreational use. “Our test and test programs … remain in place and are a strong part of our sustainability strategies for the future,” said Lund. He noted that syntheticians for social use “well received”, while more work is going on for perfect versions of competition matches.
