North by Italy
When we finished the visit to Pompei, it was time to go north. Usually we usually set the GPS to prevent payment routes, just to keep the costs low (and sometimes because it also gets more beautiful), but it made the payment roads through Italy. Partly because we had a long way to drive, but also for free roads in South -Italy not Suitable for campers – All pits and cavities give it as if the camper should shake …
During the first part of the journey, in the southern part of the country, the roads were constantly covered with waste. So tragic that it looks like this!
In the time we moved to the north, the waste disappeared. Great!
Many different Fricamping sites
We drive a maximum of three hours a day, and another time we use work on the computers, practical chores, lunch breaks and night stops. On the journey through Italy we fought every night. If we just have to sleep somewhere along the way, we don’t want to spend money on camping and during this trip we have to keep the average prices per night.
So how does Fricampa work in Italy? We think it works fine. Sometimes it becomes boring places and sometimes more beautiful, but we always find somewhere to stay for the night. We use the “Park4Night” app and read the reviews carefully.
Fricamping 1 during the trip to the north
The first night we stayed in a free parking space in a small town outside of Rome. Here it was pretty busy and lively, but the atmosphere felt calm and pleasant.

Fricamping 2 during the trip to the north
The second night we found a little nicer place, relatively close to the church Pieve di San Pietro Outside of Florence. On a remote road through the forest there was a small parking lot marked with “P”, and here we had both garbage cans and a view through the branch to a small village below.
We walked to the distant small church, and it was a surprise that it was so nice and in some respects really powerful.
Fricamping 3 during the trip to the north
The third Fricamping evening was definitely the best. We found a small parking space in the small town of Pescantina in the Verona region. The place was at a very quiet ending of the city and the only sound was the water in the river, which rushed at high speed.
We fell asleep and woke up from the sound of the river. Absolutely great!

This week we are grateful that it was resolved with the brakes of the camper and that we could come to the north without any problems. We are also grateful that we have had a good twist lately, while we have succeeded in retaining the costs somewhat – a good balance simple!

The next week
We are now in the area around Lake Garda in Northern Eitaly. You can expect reports for a fantastic castle that we have visited in South Italia. Then the contents wait for places around Lake Garda. We also have some ideas about things we want to write about when it comes to both food and camper trips in Sardinia and in Italy – we will see what we can do!
