Get ready for a photo finish in the NL West.

After the 5-1 defeat of the San Diego Padres of the Los Angeles Dodgers in Petco Park on Saturday, the first is now only on top of the division, and marks the second time in the last 10 days that the Padres held at least part of the first place.

San Diego also won his series opener with the Dodgers on Friday and positioned himself to wipe their hated rivals just a week after La did exactly that at Dodger Stadium.

The result seems to be a seductive race for NL West Supremacy when the 2025 season is approaching its last month.

It is unthinkable that the defensive World Series champion Dodgers would let such a commander-division slip away, because they gave a nine matches on 3 July over the Padres.

Yet injuries are not an excuse: Los Angeles won the autumn classic based on the resilience last year. And it is not as if the Padres themselves are completely healthy: they have just placed star fan Jackson Merrill on the injured list, which adds to a group that also includes right -handed pitchers Michael King and Joe Musgrove.

All in all, San Diego is just the better club at the moment. So much is now reflected in the NL West classification that will come into play on Sunday, which will be the last game between the Padres and Dodgers on Sunday (of course the two can clash again in October).

The person who comes to the fore when the division champion would currently hold the third seed in the NL -Play -off bracket, which means that both clubs would play in a Wild Card series if the late season started today.

Let’s hope that the next October battle between the Padres and Dodgers will take place later than that.
