Niva Bupa Health Insurance on Friday announced the launch of a digital learning program for health insurance advisors, aimed at upskilling the advisor community across India.

The digital learning program, called “Niva Bupa Insurance Academy”, is equipped to train up to 10 lakh advisors with advanced knowledge and digital capabilities.

“More than 70 percent of retail health insurance is still sold by advisors. When we surveyed our own agents, 37 percent admitted they had limited knowledge, but almost 90 percent were eager to learn. That’s why we are launching India’s first digital insurance academy, a structured, future-proof platform to elevate and standardize the professionalism of advisors across the country,” said Ankur Kharbanda, Executive Director & Chief Business Officer, Niva Bupa Health Insurance.

“While our initial audience is our own two lakh advisors, the target is much bigger. We want to open this platform to all 20-plus lakh insurance advisors in India, across all companies, as well as financial industry professionals, such as mutual funds, who may want to get health insurance,” Kharbanda shared. business line.

The fully virtual training curriculum will focus on market potential, product mastery, claims management and digital business growth.

The claims management training, an industry first, covers understanding hospital processes, claims decisions, customer support and post-sales service. The digital business growth topic will provide practical lessons in digital marketing, content creation, social media usage, and video creation.

Current infrastructure

“Our current infrastructure comfortably supports 8,000 to 10,000 concurrent users, but is immediately scalable to 50,000 or even a million if necessary,” Kharbanda said.

The digital learning program is also completely free for external advisors. “It is completely free. Our aim is not to generate revenue, it is to build advisor capabilities across India and help grow the overall insurance market,” he added.

The independent health insurer believes this training program will produce digitally savvy advisors who will not only sell products but also guide families on healthcare financial protection. This initiative is in line with IRDAI’s 2047 vision of ‘Insurance for All’ and will help increase health insurance penetration in Bharat, the report said.
