– A 2025 Nissan Sentra windshield recall affects nearly 43,000 vehicles due to windshields that may contain air bubbles in the glass.
The air bubbles in the windshield may violate federal safety standards based on the location of the bubbles. The regulations do not allow air bubbles or other glass defects that extend further than 13 mm from the outer edge of the windscreen.
A Nissan employee discovered the problem in August during a site audit at the Aguas II plant. The technician discovered “air bubbles trapped between the two panes of glass and the polyvinyl butyral (PVB) film” on a 2025 Nissan Sentra.
Nissan and the supplier have opened an investigation.
“Nissan and the supplier conducted duplication tests and found that the bubble-type delamination was possibly caused by foreign particles trapped between the glass plates and the PVB film. The trapped air can create a separation between the components, resulting in the appearance of a bubble.” — Nissan
The supplier determined that the delamination was likely caused by misaligned positioning pins in the windshield glass molds.
Nissan says it is not aware of any warranty claims or other issues resulting from air bubbles in the Sentra windshield.
The Nissan Sentra windshield recall in Canada covers 882 vehicles.
The recall letters for the Nissan Sentra windshields will be sent out on January 15, 2026 and dealers will replace all windshields with air bubbles.
Sentra owners can call Nissan at 800-867-7669 and refer to the Sentra windshield recall number PMA58.
This isn’t Nissan’s first problem with air bubbles in the Sentra windshield. In July 2024, Nissan announced a windshield recall, but that recall affected 2024 model year Sentras.
In addition, Lincoln and Ford announced a windshield replacement recall about 10 days ago for 60,000 vehicles with windshields that may contain air bubbles.
