Nissan sells manufacturing plants in South Africa to Chery – paultan.org

As part of its global corporate restructuring, Nissan has announced that it will sell its manufacturing facilities in Rosslyn, South Africa, to Chery. The deal, which is subject to the satisfaction of certain conditions, will see Chery purchase the land, buildings and associated assets of Nissan facilities, including a nearby stamping plant, by mid-2026.

In addition, the majority of associated Nissan employees working at these facilities will be offered employment by Chery on broadly comparable terms. The Rosslyn plant only produces the Navara pickup, but this will end in May once the deal is completed.

“Nissan has a long and proud history in South Africa and has worked to find the best solution for our people, our customers and our partners. External factors have had a known impact on the use of the Rosslyn plant and its future viability within Nissan,” said Jordi Vila, president of Nissan Africa.

“This agreement will allow us to secure employment for the majority of our workforce and therefore maintain opportunities for our supplier network. This move also ensures that the Rosslyn site will continue to contribute to the South African automotive sector,” he added. In the release, Nissan says it will continue to sell cars in South Africa.
