Magic Millions Guinea’s favorite for the final run-in in Vo Rogue Plate
Ninja will put the finishing touches to his Magic Millions 3YO Guineas preparations this Saturday with a maiden appearance at Stakes level.
Farnan’s neutered son will compete in the $300,000 Group 3 Vo Rogue Plate (1300m) at Eagle Farm.
The MyRacehorse galloper, who has just four starts to his name, is favorite for the Magic Millions Guineas and trainer Michael Freedman is happy with the way the campaign is shaping up.
“He’s great. He had a jumpout on the Gold Coast last week to keep his fitness up,” Freedman said.
‘I always planned for him to go into the Magic Millions Guineas third.
“Knowing that there would be four weeks in between, he did the 1000 meter jump last week, just to keep him up to speed.”
Ninja’s only start this campaign saw a third place finish, beaten by just half a length, in the 1200m Pierata Plate won by Grafterburners at Doomben on 6 December.
Andrew Adkins was in the saddle that day, but Tommy Berry will be on board this weekend and Freedman’s main concern is how they can overcome gate 12 in the field of 14.
“He’s being pulled out a little awkwardly in gate 12, which is a little concerning and something he’ll have to try to overcome, but the horse itself is in great shape,” Freedman said.
Ninja fell just $2.40 short of the Vo Rogue Plate at 11am on Friday and how he performs there will determine whether he retains his place on the top line of betting for the Guineas on the Gold Coast on January 17.
