Nike loads a carbon fiber GT future for Duke

With NCAA March Madness just around the corner and the rankings becoming increasingly important, we’ve reached that part of the season where the Player Exclusive shoe battles are heating up. Nike Basketball’s product line is the best it’s been in years thanks to forward-thinking silhouettes like the GT Future and GT Cut 4, while current signature models like the Book 2 and Ja 3 continue to release in team-based colorways.

The Duke Blue Devils are always at the top of the priority list. In fact, they are one of the few schools to receive both Nike and Jordan PEs, although neither program can dethrone Oregon. The latest news about Cameron Indoor Stadium comes neither from a player nor from the school’s official equipment channels, but from the coaching staff.

Duke Men’s Basketball Assistant Coach Tyler Thornton unveiled a GT Future PE, with the signature matte metal exterior replacing a carbon fiber molding. The GT Future immediately achieves that fast, lightweight aesthetic that matches the shoe’s construction and performance, while the school logo appears on the tongue. The only other reference to the Blue Devils can be found via the blue-colored Swoosh on the upper.

Since its wider debut in late 2025 via a partnership with Wale, the GT Future has been somewhat slow off the starting blocks. We’ve only seen the Metallic Silver pair hit shelves, with no drop yet in 2026. That will change on February 13 when the GT Future lands via the All-Star Warning Label Pack and again on February 20 in the “Red Copper”.
