Enthusiastic participation and exciting matches marked the five-day New Year Cup sponsored by NHPC Limited at Noida Golf Course (NGC) between December 25 and 28, 2025.
In total, the event attracted 575 entries competing in 10 categories ranging from Super Seniors (over 75 years) to Dependents (13 to 15 years).

Almost every category was won or lost by one point, with countdown to determine the winner in the 18 to 24 men’s handicap and general gross sections.
BS Saini won the Super Seniors section for players aged 75 and above with 22 points, while Major General BR Jha came second with 20 points.
The senior title was claimed by DP Sen (20 points) ahead of Anil Raj Kumar (19), while Nidhi Gupta claimed the women’s event (handicap 15 to 30), scoring 19 points to Sunita Mathur’s 20.
Tight fighting
Siddharth Sharma topped the men’s category in 0 to 10 handicap by 19 points ahead of Raghubir Singh (18), while Anupam Srivastava (20 points) overtook Uttiya Bhattacharya (19 points) in the 11 to 17 handicap category.

Col GS Verman needed a count-out to emerge as the winner of the 18 to 24 handicap event, ahead of Girish Rehani after both scored 20 points, as did Ankur Prakash (36) to determine the overall gross champion, ahead of Raj Singh (36).
Dipankar Kaushal topped the professional member class with a round of 33, while Arjun Chaudhary took second place with his 38.

Arihaan Beri (13 to 15 years) and Vinamra Anand won the dependents events, while Ravinder Yadav topped the caddies competition with a 37 ahead of Akhilesh’s 41.
Overall winners
Vijay Sharma was the winner in the overall net category with 22 points.
At the gala awards ceremony on New Year’s Eve, dependent member Sukhman Singh was congratulated by NGC Secretary Steven Menezes for his resounding victory in the 124th All-India Amateur Championship at the Tollygunge Club in Kolkata last month with a plaque and a gift voucher.
“It was a very nice gesture from the club,” said proud father, NGC stalwart Simarjeet Singh.
