Diaz hasn’t fought since a TKO loss to UFC Hall of Famer Robbie Lawler at UFC 266. He was scheduled to fight Vicente Luque in 2024 before withdrawing due to travel issues ahead of UFC Abu Dhabi.
Fight fans are mixed in wanting Diaz to fight in the Octagon again at age 42. But Diaz has big goals for his return to the cage as he plots a potential world championship victory.

In a recent interview at the Baja Rehabilitation CenterDiaz unveiled a lofty goal for his latest comeback attempt.
“I see myself becoming world champion,” Diaz said.
“I think it’s easy money. It’s not like it used to be. People will see a whole new me.” (h/t MMA junkie)
Diaz was then asked about his past substance abuse and what’s next in his rehabilitation.
“For me, I just don’t think I would have gotten this far if I thought there was anything that could hold me back,” Diaz said.
“Because I’m the next person I’m going to face or whatever obstacle. Substance abuse, right or wrong, I’m just confident that I’ll do better every year, every day.”
Diaz recently returned to training last month opposite longtime friend and teammate Jake Shields in California. While Nick’s relationship with his brother Nate Diaz remains strained following a recent social media tirade, fans may not have to wait long until both Diaz brothers fight again.
