2 minutes, 56 seconds Read

The NHL rumor mill buzzes while training camps approaches. From contract insecurity around Connor McDavid to offers with a big money in Minnesota and Quiet Trade Inviries in New Jersey of New York, here is the latter in the entire competition.

McDavid takes his time in Edmonton

The biggest story of the low season remains the future of Connor McDavid with the Edmonton Oilers. Several insiders report that there is no sense of urgency of the Superstar Center to sign an extension for the season.

John Shannon said that Oilers’s Front Office is ‘their breath’, with McDavid apparently satisfied not to sign the regular season. David Pagnotta added that the “actual negotiation process … did not start”, which was confirmed by various other sources. Chris Johnston from TSN noted that McDavid “is not in a position where he is comfortable to sign an extension”.

McDavid Panarin NHL -Rumors

McDavid has been clear about wanting to win in Edmonton, but NHL Insider Elliote Friedman emphasized that something is “imperfect” with the schedule that McDavid could prevent it from signing immediately. He argued that the oilers should convince their superstar that the team is a real competition. It is difficult to imagine what Edmonton can do between now and the start of the season to change McDavid’s thoughts. If he is not completely convinced, Ryan Rishaug added that a shorter deal, possibly about four years, may be more likely than a full extension of eight years.

Wild Push to lock Kaprizov

In Minnesota, De Wild is said to pull everything out of the closet to keep their superstar ahead in the long term. Michael Russo reported that the Kirill Kaprizov team “offered a ton of money”, possibly in the $ 16 million range per season with a contract of eight years.

No deal has been completed, but it is clear that Minnesota is serious about building his future around him. If he draws, he will be technically the first of the Big Ticket UFAs that will be available next summer to get himself off the market.

Devils Explore options

The New Jersey Devils are actively involved in commercial discussions and contract negotiations, but are also careful in their selection planning, aware of the longer -term implications of their decisions this summer.

According to Ryan Novozinsky, the Devils checked in at the Seattle Kraken on Forward Jared McCann, but were closed quickly.

There are conversations with Luke Hughes going on the contract front. The Devils weigh a three -year bridge deal or a maximum period of eight years. The Hughes camp is now interested in an extension of five years that would set him up for his next free desk with his brother Jack, who will be UFA in 2030.

Panarin and the Rangers: Extension of Drama?

The New York Rangers are also confronted with important decisions with their core. Frank Seravalli noted that a deal with Artemi Panarin is ‘meaningful for both parties’, and there is optimism that an extension could be achieved during the season. However, he was a fine line whether there was already a deal on the table or not.

David Pagnotta, however, warned that if the Rangers stumble out of the gate, Panarin could quickly become the center of Handelskatter. In the meantime, Mika Zibanejad, who has a complete no-move clause, has reportedly made it clear that he does not want to leave New York despite exploratory discussions of the Front Office.
