Another season but the same story, what does the future have for Toronto Maple Leafs Vooruit Nick Robertson?
The Chris Johnston show: Chris Johnston and Julian McKenzie talk about Toronto Maple Leafs Vooruit Nick Robertson and what his future can be with the Maple Leafs, and what they can look for when they move him this year.

McKenzie: “Nick Robertson, the future is back in the air, just feels like one here that we are going to scenario again.
Johnston: “Yes, it will be an exchange if it ever happens that everyone is like that:” Oh yes, that has been in the making for a long time. “
NHL rumors: Maple Leafs and De Penguins
And look, I will say this, Nick Robertson has only so many rights under the SME. But even after he had desired a profession in the summer of 2024, he signed last September. You know, had a fairly good year. The problem for him was when it did the most when the Leafs were in the play -offs, he didn’t dress too often.
And I think he is a very driven child in the end, a very competitive man. You know, and he is in a team that has been deep in the forward position, you know that it has certainly limited its opportunities to a certain extent in the NHL. He actually scored a reasonable pace, given that he does not really play power time, you know, he has done a lot of you, watching, you know, seasons of 13.14, goals. Many of those goals were scored on even strength.
You know, I think it is, it is likely that he is going somewhere else, play a little higher in the line -up and meets some of the expectations that have been for him. So you know, we will see what is happening.
Of course, the Leafs do not only give away for nothing. I think they see him as a plus. He is still a fairly young player. It feels like he’s in the neighborhood forever, but part of it is that he made his debut in the NHL at the age of 18 or 19 in that Covid year, coming back to the play -off bubble of 2020. And so he has been around the schedule of the Leafs leaf for quite some time.
NHL Rumors: Kempe, Robertson, Evangelista and Roslovic
But it feels like time may be a bit short for him and the Leafs organization, but we will have to see how it goes. We have not seen here for the past eight weeks here for the past eight weeks. It was pretty quiet on the transaction fluttering and was not an easy time to move players.
McKenzie: “Another hypothetical, if it comes at that time, Brad Treliving is more likely to want another young player in exchange for Nicholas Robertson, or is he rather inclined to just give me a concept choice as an active?
Johnston: “Well, I think the Leafs themselves need assets for future trading deadlines. I mean, one thing in Toronto is the cupboards relatively bare because they have been, they are a buyer of the trade deadline before season after season.
So you know, I think they are able to be open -minded about the return. It is about getting what they regard as real value. But you know, if it is another young player, if it is a concept choice, you know, probably it is something they can use to possibly also do future transactions.
NHL -Rumors: Crosby and the Canadiens
Because, you know, the other side of a Mitch Marner, you know, life without Mitch Marner is the Leafs actually has more capflexibility than normal. So you know, they may be on the market for different types of transactions, because this season passes if those opportunities arise.
But, but they really, the only thing they miss is that the capital to make that, that kind of movements. They have taken away their 2026, first round pick, and so you know, I don’t know that it should be something or another, except that they can always use a little more value for future movements.
