Potential trade candidates for Vancouver Canucks
Patrick Johnston of the province: Vancouver Canucks forward Jake DeBrusk said last week he doesn’t want to be traded: “Oh no. I’m here to stay. To fix this.”
He doesn’t want to go, but if a team calls on the 29-year-old forward, and now that the Canucks want to go young, doesn’t it make more sense for the Canucks to trade him?
Other trade candidates for the Canucks.
Kiefer Sherwood – We all know a move is coming, and he would like to stop it. If a first-round pick was offered, he would have been traded by now. A source said things are heating up.
Evander Kane – Rick Dhaliwal said the Canucks asked the Edmonton Oilers if they would be interested in reacquiring Kane. Oilers said ‘no thanks.’
NHL Rumors: Artemi Panarin and Joonas Korisalo
Tyler Myers – It’s doubtful he’s moved, but teams can take a look.
Teddy Blueger – He is set to return to the lineup and is expected to play in the Olympics. Probably wouldn’t yield much return.
David Kampf – Going to the Olympics. He can give someone some forward depth.
Elias Pettersson – Someone might be interested in his two-way game. The Carolina Hurricanes were previously interested and are looking to trade Jesperi Kotkaniemi. The Chicago Blackhawks or San Jose Sharks are two teams that could be a good fit.
Teams aren’t just calling the Canucks about their free agents
Sportsnet’s Iain MacIntyre: The Vancouver Canucks still plan to continue their hybrid rebuild, get younger and retain some key veterans. President Jim Rutherford said GM Patrik Allvin is getting calls for their pending UFAs, as well as some term players.
NHL Rumors: There is interest in Calgary Flames defenseman Rasmus Andersson
For players over 25, nine of the Canucks 12 players have some sort of trade protection.
