NHL Rumors: Vancouver Canucks, Detroit Red Wings and the Nashville Predators

Jake DeBrusk is another forward who may be of interest to teams looking for someone with term

The Fourth Period: Vancouver Canucks Evander Kane, Conor Garland, Teddy Blueger and Elias Pettersson have had their names in the rumor mill for a while now, and you can probably add Jake DeBrusk to that list.

Irfaan Gaffar reported last week during the DFO Rundown that DeBrusk is open to a change of scenery. He has five years left on his contract with a cap hit of $5.5 million and a full no-move clause. Among the teams showing some interest are the Boston Bruins, Seattle Kraken and Detroit Red Wings.

It is unknown what the Canucks would be looking to move DeBrusk

The Detroit Red Wings are looking for a top four Dman and perhaps a No. 2 center

The Fouth period: The Detroit Red Wings are looking for a top-four defenseman, who, according to multiple sources, would ideally be right-handed. They have tons of salary cap space available.

They were interested in Rasmus Andersson before he was traded to Vegas and have been linked to Rasmus Ristolainen of the Philadelphia Flyers.

The Red Wings have also shown some interest in St. Louis Blues forward Robert Thomas, who has five years left on his contract at $8,236. Thomas has a full no-trade clause.

The Nashville Predators could make some sales despite still being in the playoff race

The Fourth Period: The Nashville Predators are just four points away from a playoff, but they could still move some pieces before the deadline. Most of the speculation has been about Steven Stamkos and Ryan O’Reilly, but several teams have shown interest in Erik Haula and Jonathan Marchessault.

Haula, 34, is a pending UFA with a $3.15 million cap hit and a six-team no-trade list. The 35-year-old Marchessault has three years left on his contract with a cap hit of $5.5 million and a move clause. It is believed that he would be willing to forgo the right opportunity. In the past, Marchessault has been linked to the New Jersey Devils and the Los Angeles Kings.

Other current Predators UFAs include forwards Michael Bunting, Cole Smith, Tyson Jost and Michael McCarron, and defenseman Nick Blankenburg. Several teams have expressed interest in Bunting and McCarron.
