Several Vancouver Canucks are in the rumor mill and Kiefer Sherwood knows he is one of them
Sportsnet’s Iain MacIntyre: Vancouver Canucks awaiting UFA forward Kiefer Sherwood knows his name is in the rumor mill.
“You know, I love it here and I love this group here, and I just want to keep taking it day by day,” Sherwood told us. “I think it’s just part of the gig. You have to be professional and you have a job to play. You try to have a good mentality about it.”
Canucks president of hockey operations Jim Rutherford said this week that they need to get younger and that he will listen to the calls of their pending UFAs — Sherwood, Evander Kane, Teddy Blueger and Derek Forbort — but he has no plans to trade anyone.
Defenseman Quinn Hughes is eligible to sign a contract extension this season, so he will have to decide whether he wants to stay in Vancouver or work his way to New Jersey to play with his brothers.
