Can the Toronto Maple Leafs get a pair of second-round picks for Bobby McMann? A scoop?
TSN: Chris Johnston said on TSN Radio 1050 during the First Up show that it’s more than likely the Toronto Maple Leafs will be sellers at the deadline. They are seven points clear of the final wildcard spot with several teams still to pass.
They owe the Boston Bruins their 2026 first-round pick, but it is protected in the top five. They will likely be locked in the middle of a playoff spot and a top five finish.
NHL Rumors: Jets, Lightning, Kraken, Maple Leafs and the Canucks
Johnston added Bobby McMann will generate interest, especially because of his $1.35 million cap hit. He has 18 goals and 31 points in 55 games this season. There are several first-round picks that have already been traded by contending teams, so the Leafs could look like a package similar to what the Vancouver Canucks got for Kiefer Sherwood – two second-round picks and a lower prospect.
Everything is on the table for the Nashville Predators
TSN: Barry Trotz is still at the Nashville Predators trade deadline as the organization searches for its next GM. They are not in a play-off position, but they are still aiming for a spot. Trotz said at his press conference yesterday that they would look to the present and the future.
“I have to listen to everything. We’re not in the playoffs right now, so I have to listen to everything. I owe that to both the gentleman next to me (chairman Bill Haslam) and to our fan base, and to everyone who is a fan of the Predators.”
NHL Rumors: San Jose Sharks General Manager Mike Grier will reward the young team
I have to look at everything. And I’m going to look at it from now, and I’m going to look at it from the future. So everything is on the table.”
