And look specifically at their blue line. It’s been beat up. Shayne Gostisbehere, K’Andre Miller, Jaccob Slavin. I mean, you’re talking about half your defense corps. And maybe, not maybe, certainly their most defensive, their most important defender, in Jaccob Slavin.

So being without those guys and making a seven-and-three start this season, beating some of the teams we’re talking about in the Inter Cup Contender category, has been extremely impressive for Carolina.

And one more note to keep in mind, regarding Carolina. There’s an interesting situation looming with Brandon Bussi, who has been really good. Speaking of injuries, in relief of Pyotr Kochetkov. We know that Freddie Andersen goes down with an injury every now and then. You can set your watch accordingly at any time during the season.

Brandon Bussi came in and gave them some really nice efforts. His stats are pretty good. I think he has a .916 save percentage, if I remember correctly, through four games. And now that Kochetkov has been activated, I don’t think Carolina wants to just throw Bussi back on waivers and give someone else the chance to claim a truly valuable third goalie.

They will have to monitor the situation closely. So I think it’s also a situation worth seeing as Carolina looks for a defenseman. And also: what do they do with Brandon Bussi?
