Daily confrontation: David Pagnotta says the Boston Bruins would like to add a top-pairing right-handed defenseman. They tried to acquire Rasmus Andersson from the Flames, but he wouldn’t sign a contract extension. How about one Dougie Hamilton meeting?

Colby Cohen: “You don’t remember when Dougie wanted to leave Boston. And maybe he’s older and more mature now, but he didn’t want to play in that market. He didn’t want the criticism. He didn’t want that, you know, that comes with playing in Boston.”

And again, he was a young, young kid. Don Sweeney was still at the helm. I don’t think Peter Chiarelli was still running that team. I think Donnie Sweeney had already taken over the team with the whole Dougie Hamilton thing. So that was not a good ending.”

Pagnotta: “Yeah. I mean, I don’t see it, just financially I don’t see that being a fit. Because of, especially the way, like he’s having a bad year, obviously, in terms of his abilities.”

And I think, yeah, they wanted to throw eight by eight or around there anyway, regarding Rasmus Anderson with an extension.

Look, do they want to bring in someone for that right side, who can fit into the top two positions on the right side, on their blue line. It’s clearly clear that they want to.

You know, for Dougie Hamilton, yeah, I don’t know, the end of that relationship wasn’t great. And I don’t know if that’s necessarily something that he would want to reconsider, because I think there are other options. There are other options he would prefer.

But this one also comes down to money, you know for them. And is New Jersey willing to keep a piece or take back a significant amount to make that kind of negligible?
