Teams will want to know if they’re on Nazem Kadri’s no-trade list, and the Flames wouldn’t move him before his 1,000th game
Sportsnet: Elliotte Friedman on the 32 Thoughts: The Podcast – The most pleasant surprise starts in the NHL episode, about the Nazem Kadri rumors. He’s approaching 1,000 NHL games and won’t be moved until then, if at all. He has a 13-team no-trade list, and teams will be interested to see if they’re on it or not.

“And I also think this is huge for Kadri and his family, and I heard they have a big celebration planned. Don’t let that get into the conversation. OK? And I think it’s great of them. Great of everyone involved here, because they recognized that that’s important.”

The thing that came out last week that no one, including myself at the time, realized. I didn’t realize it until someone told me that day that he now has a 13-team no-trade. His clause has been changed. I’ve heard teams are completely over it. Okay, am I on that list? Am I not on that list? I’m on that list. How did I end up on that list? And how do I change that?
I think that’s what’s going on here. For example, people want to know. For example, if it’s a no-trade, everyone sits there and says, ‘Okay, we’ll figure it out. We will make a deal with Calgary, and if we have to convince him, we will convince him.” That’s pretty much the way everyone looks at it. We’re all on the same page here.
But if you find out it’s a partial one, and you’re trying to figure out if you’re on that list. When you realize you’re there, you suddenly think, ‘What? We are here. We like this guy. How do we get out of there?’
So I think, and I’m sure Kadri, because he has a lot of personal pride and all that. He says, “You know what, if people want me, (a) I’m not giving up on my current team. I’m just not wired that way. I’m going to fight for them. But I’m also going to show everyone out there that when the time comes, you get the best Nazem.”
Should the Rasmus Andersson situation in Calgary be resolved already?
Kyle Bukauskas: “It’s amazing. You think how long he’s been around, like you said, so close to 1,000 games. He’s won a Cup. He’s built a great resume as an NHL player. And yet you can still tell there’s something about the way he plays when he’s at his best. There’s always something in his mind like, ‘Those people over there, they don’t think I can do this.’ Those people there, it’s like he’s still fueled by some kind of outside doubt. That’s great, it brings out the best in him. But it’s impressive that, this far into it, you can still see signs of it actually going.
When you’re so connected, it’s hard to lose it that way.
Rick Dhaliwal: The Vancouver Canucks are not on Nazem Kadri’s no-trade list.
