NHL rumors: Pittsburgh Penguins and the Boston Bruins

It is a bit surprising that the Pittsburgh Penguins have not moved a few more players this season

Josh Yohe from athletics: The Pittsburgh Penguins have missed the play -offs for the past three seasons and nobody expects them to get this season. In recent years, GM Kyle Dubas has redesigned their prospectpool and added concept choices. They miss young star power, and they are not easy to land when you are out of the top five.

It is a bit surprising that the whole of Bryan, Rickard Rakell and Erik Karlsson stay at the Penguins. Moving rust and Rakell would yield a considerable return of prospects, picks and/or young players. The actions of both would make the penguins worse, which would give them a better pick -pick.

The Penguins are $ 13 million under the limit and project have after $ 53 million in cap -space next season. Rest, Rakell or Karlsson (even with preserved) would give it even more space. There is not much interest in Kevin Hayes, Noel Acciari and Danton Heinen, who are good for $ 8 million and will be free officers after the season.

NHL rumors: Flames, Maple Leafs, Hart, Ferraro and Hughes

The penguins should refuel this season to have a better chance of landing Gavin McKenna. They have to hit the bottom.

Mason Mctavish would be an intriguing trade goal for the Boston Bruins

Conor Ryan van de Boston Globe: 2025 First round Pick, James Hagens, is perhaps the future top-line center of Boston Bruins, but they need more help in the middle. Elias Lindholm will eventually settle in the third line.

Jack Eichel who hits a free desk is very unlikely. The addition of another top center will be done earlier via the design or via a transaction. Anaheim Ducks Mason McTavish is an intriguing trade goal. If conversations between the ducks and McTavish do not get anywhere, they can look to move the RFA center.

It would probably cost the Bruins one or two first round picks and a prospect or young NHL player. The actions of a scoop in the 2026 design can be risky, because the retooling Bruins could end up a top 10 pick. If the Bruins are unable to acquire McTavish, he is the type of player that GM Don Sweeney should look for.
