Could the Philadelphia Flyers target Buffalo Sabers Bowen Byram again?

William James of Philly Hockey now: Elliott Friedman reported that the Philadelphia Flyers are looking for a defenseman.

The Flyers could use some size on the blue line, and that could be one of the reasons for moving forward Emil Andrae (5′ 9″) is stuck in the minors. Andrae could be used as a trade chip if the Flyers find what they are looking for.

Anthony Di Marco of Daily Faceoff: The Philadelphia Flyers currently have approximately $6.6 million in salary cap space and will accrue additional cap space between now and the trade deadline. Defenders Rasmus Ristolainen and Cam York are ready to start the season.

NHL rumours: Edmonton Oilers, Winnipeg Jets and will stars take fewer?

A source said the Flyers are not interested in using their cap space to add a defenseman or a bottom-six forward; they will want to improve the top of their lineup. They could be looking for a left-handed defenseman to play with Jamie Drysdalewhich would then slide Nick Seeler up to the third pair.

They had interest in Buffalo Sabers Bowen Byram in the past, but did not want to pay the asking price. Would a package with Owen Tippett and Emil Andre be enough to get Byram out of Buffalo?

The Montreal Canadiens have their own internal structure when it comes to contract negotiations

The Fourth Period: The Montreal Canadiens and Lane Hutson’s agent, Sean Coffey, continues to talk, but said, “(there’s) still work to be done.

Canadiens GM Kent Hughes said discussions continue and their focus is on their internal structure.

“Our salary structure is based on financial flexibility, but also the culture we try to create in the locker room,” Hughes explains. “That is very important to us.

“So in every decision we make – even in a context where the salary cap is rising – the amounts will not necessarily be the same, but the principles will remain.”

Emily Kaplan previously reported that Lucas Hughes And Jackson LaCombe signed their deals, Hutson would sign an eight-year deal for less than Noah Dobson’s $9.5 million, but the market has changed.

NHL Rumors: Pittsburgh Penguins and Montreal Canadiens

If Hutson doesn’t sign an extension by July 1, he would be an RFA but would not be eligible for offer sheets.
