In today’s NHL rumors, the Montreal Canadiens could be the front runner for Ryan O’Reilly. Meanwhile, the Edmonton Oilers continue to be linked to several goaltenders, the latest being Tristan Jarry of the Pittsburgh Penguins. Kiefer Sherwood appears to understand that he is being traded by the Vancouver Canucks and thanked the team for giving him the opportunity. Finally, Craig Conroy gets an extension with the Calgary Flames.
Canadiens linked to Ryan O’Reilly
LeBrun also reported on TSN Insider Trading as we talk about the future of veteran center Ryan O’Reilly: “Montreal Canadiens are among the teams I’ve been told are interested, what’s the price tag for Ryan O’Reilly? A 1st RD pick plus an ‘A-level’ prospect to enter the conversation for Ryan O’Reilly.”

As for other Predators who may be on the way, David Pagnotta reports that Steven Stamkos and Jonathan Marchessault are ready for a fresh start if the situation is right. Pagnotta noted that as much as they love living and being in Nashville, they are both open to the possibility of going to a legitimate contender.
Oilers connected to Tristan Jarry, fighting for Pickard
ESPN analyst and NHL insider Kevin Weekes reported this Wednesday that the Edmonton Oilers are pushing Tristan Jarry of the Pittsburgh Penguins. Weekes wrote: “I’ve been told 2X @NHL All Star and @penguins Goalkeeper Tristan Jarry is one of the goalies attracting significant interest as a potential option for the @EdmontonOilersKeep in mind he played in Edmonton with the Oil Kings.
Not everyone is in love with the idea. While the Oilers were once again exposed to a blowout loss to Dallas that increased the urgency for change, moving from one question mark to another is not what the Oilers want to do. Stuart Skinner and Calvin Pickard continue to struggle, but Jarry has been anything but consistent.
Jarry has been strong this season, but his career has been marked by ups and downs and a recent stint in the minors. The Oilers should also make the money work. Not only that, but Oilers players are reportedly fighting a goalie change. According to Frank Seravallithe team investigated the possibility of calling Connor Ingram coming from their recent road trip. The Oilers players reportedly intervened and voiced their support for Calvin Pickard.
Kiefer Sherwood seems to know a Canucks trade is coming
It sounds like forward Kiefer Sherwood is aware that he will likely be traded by the Vancouver Canucks in the near future. Canucks president Jim Rutherford confirmed this in a statement job interview on Tuesday that Sherwood is likely on the move as the team looks to get younger and recoup assets for veterans, especially those with pending UFA deals.
Sherwood said he hoped to sign an extension in Vancouver, but now understands that is unlikely. “I think it’s just part of the gig,” he noted. “I’m just grateful for the opportunity they gave me… When I signed here, I felt like it was a good opportunity for me to grow, and I’m very grateful for every opportunity the management, team and coaching staff have given me.”
According to Elliotte Friedman:
“The immediate guard is Kiefer Sherwood. Excellent start, absolute heater (28.6 shooting percentage), tough competition, playoff-style skills, salary anyone can handle. Ultimately the Canucks will decide how fast they move, but if anyone can move fast, it’s the feisty winger.”
Conroy starts drawing with flames
Friedman also reported this On Wednesday night, the Calgary Flames will announce an extension for general manager Craig Conroy.
“I’m hearing tonight that the Calgary Flames and GM Craig Conroy are moving forward with a contract extension. This has been talked about a lot over the last few days…not sure when it will be finalized, but we are moving toward that conclusion.”
