NHL Rumors: Nashville Predators and the Calgary Flames

Is it really toxic on Nashville?

B/R Open ice: Frank Seravalli says the Nashville Predators are the most toxic organization in the NHL, top to bottom.

“They responded for you after you played an important card. You used a bullet as an option in your line here to try to get this team back on track, which is destroying the players in the media. Okay, so he did. After eleven seconds they responded.”

I’ve talked repeatedly for weeks about how the environment surrounding the Nashville Predators is the most toxic in the NHL, top to bottom. No one is in a good place within the Nashville Predators organization, and they don’t like the way things have been handled.

NHL Rumors: Is Andrew Brunette in the Hot Seat in Nashville?

The game is not intended to publicly confuse your players, that will not go over well. And we saw the reaction very clearly on Monday night in Nashville. It’s a brutal situation and I don’t know where they go from here.

Alex Daughterty: Predators GM Barry Trotz said Seravalli’s report is “not very accurate.”

Trotz about the report, saying, “He spoke to Roman Josi and other key players and they reported the opposite. He says he knows what toxic looks like and this team is not.”

Teams will be interested in Blake Coleman. He knows he and others are in the rumor mill

Wes Gilbertson of the Calgary Herald: 33-year-old Blake Coleman has one year left on his contract with $4.9 million left on his contract and a 10-team trade list, and is one of the more reliable forwards for the Calgary Flames. If the Flames sell, Coleman will be a top target for teams, and he’s hearing the rumors.

“You hear it, of course, but I think that’s just part of the job,” Coleman told Postmedia before leaving on this five-game road trip. “You guys have put yourselves in a situation like this (with a bad start). There really isn’t a name I haven’t heard. Yeah, some people are definitely getting thrown out more than others. Luckily, I learned a lesson early in the league that anything can happen on any given day. I was in New Jersey and they told me I would be part of the core and the future, and two weeks later I was traded. So if the right offer comes across for someone…

NHL Rumors: Which Veterans Could the Vancouver Canucks Actually Move?

“I was a young man with a good contract. I thought I was safe. They were talking about all the old guys and I was the first one out, so… It is what it is. People have work to do and, honestly, it keeps my family busy, my parents and stuff. I just mute the chat and just go play.”
