Jarry’s equipment was ready thanks to an inspiration
Despite speculation and suggestions that the Oilers and Tristan Jarry could hIf he was aware of a trade days before it was finalized, that’s not the case, and that’s not why his custom goalie gear was ready to go just 33 hours after he was traded.
Jarry’s immediate move to Oilers equipment was not the result of foreknowledge, but rather a calculated gamble by goalie equipment manufacturer Vaughn.
According to The AthleticsVaughn started preparing the equipment almost a week before the deal became official, after hearing trade rumors about Jarry online. They write:
“Hughes had had no recent conversations with Jarry – or with either team’s equipment managers for that matter. He had only seen the same reports online that many fans were digesting.”

With the company’s Canadian factory approaching a holiday shutdown, Vaughn opted to act early and quietly produce a potential Oilers-colored set of Jarry’s custom gear. If the swap never happened, the equipment could simply be used as a demo set.

That foresight has paid off. By the time the Penguins completed the transaction, the equipment was already complete. An overnight drive and an early morning NHL inspection allowed Jarry to debut in his new pad — minus a new mask that was delayed by customs — and earn a win in his first game with Edmonton.
Are the Kings really considering trading Danault?
Rumors are everywhere that the Los Angeles Kings and veteran center Philip Danault are open to a fresh start and that the Kings are exploring the trade market. The Montreal Canadiens are the team most closely tied to this story.
However, an insider suggests that people should not get too ahead of themselves. Elliotte Friedman recently noted, “Someone said to me that they’re not so sure the Kings will be inclined to do this. Danault is still a very good center, even if he’s struggling right now; he’s a good player.” He added: “… even though they haven’t been able to climb Mount Edmonton, he’s been one of the best players in those three series, so if you trade him, he might not have the best year, but you’re still creating a hole.”
Don’t be surprised if the Kings “stand tall,” Friedman suggested. The Kings are aware that centers are difficult to replace and even if Danault struggles, he still offers value, with a trade market likely always going to be there.
Crosby to the wild?
Will the Minnesota Wild go all-in this season? Now that they’ve added Quinn Hughes to their blueline, many analysts and insiders believe Bill Guerin can remain aggressive.
TSN insider Chris Johnston wonders if his next target could be a former teammate of Sidney Crosby.
said Johnston:
“I don’t know which centers will actually be available, so it’s hard to get started. But if that guy in Pittsburgh ever becomes available, I’ll remind you that he was a friend of Bill Guerin’s and a Stanley Cup-winning teammate. It’s way too premature, that’s not a rumor, that’s kind of one and one, one plus one adds two together.”
The Wild are also said to like Nazem Kadri and will target him if he officially becomes available from Calgary. The Dallas Stars are also a team eyeing Kadri, which is intriguing considering the Wild and Stars are now in direct competition as contenders.
