Will Connor McDavid go shorter term or will he view it as much as possible?

B/r open ice cream: Frank Seravalli if Connor McDavid could sign a shorter term with the Edmonton Oilers or if he goes for the maximum contract of eight years.

“If I looked at the Connor McDavid situation so well, I can confuse it right now, I think it will not be an eight-year-old deal. That it will be less than that, probably four and somewhere between 16 and 17 and a half million dollars in AAV. Those are just ballparks.

That is the best that I can collect in time at the moment. Not even trust saying that it will be a deal of four years. I still think it makes sense to get help and just be ready with it.

If you are Connor McDavid, the last thing you want to do is go through this again. And you know, he has so much leverage and control that if he decides after four years or three years or whatever, the Edmonton Oilers will not get it done, and he does not get a chance to win there, well, the best player in the world just puts his hand on and says, I want to leave. And they will have no choice but to let it happen.

So I don’t think signing a shorter deal is a fire under the ass of Edmonton faster than something else. Just something to keep in mind.

The Edmonton Oilers do not consider Carter Hart

B/r open ice cream: Frank Seravalli on if the Edmonton Oilers will be interested in signing goalkeeper Carter Hart. Hart and the four other players were acquitted, but are currently not taken into account by the NHL. The NHLPA does not agree with this.

“Carter Hart, I was told that Carter Hart is a non-starter for the Edmonton Oilers. And otherwise he is now a non-starter for everyone who is out of his acquittal in the Hockey Canada sexual attack in London, Ontario, as ruled last week.

Look, he and the other four former NHL players are by the NHL as not -and they will continue to assess the file before they determine the next steps in the commissioner’s office.

So until they are acquitted to play, it is not even really a conversation that is worthy to have, although the NHLPA has strongly expressed their objection to how the NHL has viewed this situation.
