Would the San Jose Sharks want to make a big splash on their blueline, or would they rather stay patient?
The magazine with Jeff Marek: Drew Remenda when asked if the San Jose Sharks should take a bigger step, make a big splash in the West, or remain patient.
Greg Wyshynski: “Are they going to knock, knock, knock on Nashville’s door and see if there’s a way, if things fall apart for the Predators, to get Roman Josi out of there?
Should they go find that guy, do you think, to really level up as a contender in the West, or can they be patient and maybe find the answer internally?
Remenda: “I think they’re being very patient in expanding their prospects. And we’ve seen it with what they’ve done with Sam (Dickinson) coming in and out of the lineup early in the season. What they did last year with Will Smith. Shakir Mukhamadullin. That one, even Luca Cagnoni, who’s playing really well, with the Barracuda in the AHL.”
NHL Rumors: New York Rangers and New Jersey Devils
But I don’t know, I think to Greg, once they get to that point where they think they’re going to look for a stud Dman to bring the points up because we don’t produce much from that point on. Except that night where we went crazy and Mario and Vinny scored goals. They don’t produce much from the point. We’re one, I think we’re actually one of the lowest scoring teams, defense-wise.
So I would imagine that’s on their agenda, but I don’t know that they would want to take a big, big step and sacrifice what they have now as far as that chemistry goes, as far as that culture goes, as far as some of the workforce that they think they can grow.
