The Detroit Red Wings are looking for an experienced top-six center
Marco D’Amico from Ratings: The Detroit Red Wings are looking for a top-six veteran center with term, and are willing to pay for it, according to sources. Andrew Copp is currently their number two center after Marco Kasper, their eventual 2C, was moved back to the wing.
Sources say the Red Wings could have Vincent Trockeck at the top of their list, with Nazem Kadri and Elias Pettersson as potential backup plans.

Marek: “How much business do you think will get done in the next few weeks while the players are away and some guys are in Cabo?
Pagnotta: “Yeah, I think this will be relatively quiet for the first week. We’re talking to some sort of GMs and some others around the league that they’re expecting this first week, let the guys do their thing. Let them go. Whoever isn’t in the Olympics. Everybody’s taking a breather. Management and everybody will do their thing as far as mapping out their plans.”
But let the players do their thing, and if everyone comes back next weekend, or close to it. Everyone’s back on the 17th. Then have those conversations with your pending restricted and unrestricted free agents.
And a lot of teams, I think Seattle, Columbus, Toronto and a number of them, want to have those conversations with their impending free agents during this time to determine if it’s realistic for them to sign them.
And you know, Boone Jenner for example in Columbus would be a little surprised if they can’t come up with anything there. But will Charlie Coyle look to make a deal with Columbus, or will he look to the free agent market? And if that’s the case, they’ll have to make a decision, purely hypothetically speaking, using these two guys as an example.

But you know, it could be that some players become more available in the coming weeks depending on how some of these discussions go. We know Seattle will have it with their guys, whether it’s (Jamie) Oleksiak, (Jordan) Eberle, (Eeli) Tolvanen and (Jaden) Schwartz, those are four guys that are important that they stepped up.
