The Boston Bruins are one of the teams looking for defenseman Justin Faulk
James Murphy of RG Media: The Boston Bruins failed to acquire Rasmus Andersson from the Calgary Flames, but their search for a right-handed defenseman to play in their second duo continues.
A source has said the Bruins have been in trade talks with the St. Louis Blues for Justin Faulk. Both Don Sweeney and Doug Armstrong are with Team Canada at the Olympics, but the source said the Bruins are one of several teams to have ticked ties on Faulk in the past month. The source adds that Sweeney and Armstrong have talked a lot about Faulk.
Multiple sources have said others who have expressed interest in Faulk include the Montreal Canadiens, Buffalo Sabres, Detroit Red Wings, Dallas Stars and Utah Mammoth.
Elliotte Friedman has reported that the Blues are looking for a package similar to what the Flames got for Andersson: a first-round pick, a conditional second, NHL defenseman Zach Whitecloud and a prospect Abram Wiebe. The Flames kept their salaries.
NHL Rumors: Is Nazem Kadri the Next Trade Target?
Ben Kuzma of the province: Forwards Teddy Blueger and Conor Garland could be moved at any time before the trade deadline.
After losing left winger Kevin Fiala this season, the Los Angeles Kings may now have to hold on to left winger Warren Foegele, who has one year left on his contract at $3.25 million. The Kings wanted to move him and his salary while they looked for centers.
Kings interest in Canucks center Elias Pettersson may have increased. Would Pettersson abandon LA? Foegele could be a good veteran for the Canucks’ rebuild. The Kings have $15 million in cap space. Kings winger Andrei Kuzmenko scored 39 goals, mostly with Pettersson in 2022-2023.
The Canucks need center guys, and the Kings aren’t deep in the middle. They’re not giving up on Quinton Byfield. The Kings have a first and two seconds.
The Detroit Red Wings could use a No. 2 center and could dangle Nate Danielson in the 2023 first round along with a first-round pick. The Carolina Hurricanes and Chicago Blackhawks could be looking for a No. 2 center.
NHL Rumors: The Toronto Maple Leafs need to develop and retain the ‘Next Darren Raddysh’
The problem with all the teams mentioned above is that they don’t really have an immediate center returning for the Canucks, who could be without injured centers Filip Chytil and Marco Rossi.
