Carter Hutton: “Is he a guy that we see putting the next guy in here, as guys, as contracts start to fall off the board
here?”
NHL Rumors: Minnesota Wild, Adrian Kempe, Alex Tuch and Martin Necas
Pagnotta: “You know, that’s what I thought until a few days ago, and until the morning. They’re taking a break in negotiations now, based on what I heard and what I was told in the morning.
So talking to some people on both sides of the spectrum, it seems like the Kings and Eichel, excuse me, the Kings and Kempe camp are just going to say, “Hey, let’s take a break. We’ve been traveling back and forth for a while. Let’s take a breather and reconvene later this month, I believe. It’s still early. The season has just started. You know, Kings pulled out a nice W in an upside-down game.
But it’s no surprise, no secret, I should say, that Kempe wants to stay, and of course the Kings want to keep him. But you know, with Kenny Holland, sometimes it takes a little longer to get these kinds of deals, with these players of this caliber.
So they just decided, you know what, let’s press pause. Let’s, let’s play a few more matches and then meet again. So that’s kind of where the campaign situation is right now.”
The salary cap could rise even higher than expected as NHL revenues grow
Tyler Yaremchuk: “I want to get started on this real quick. I heard some reporting about the Lane Hudson thing and I thought, hey, maybe he was comfortable with this song. Then he saw some other contracts being signed and he said, wait a minute. Maybe I want a little bit more. Is that something maybe, which has an effect on Kempe? He saw the Kyle Connor deal and he says, wait a minute.”
Pagnotta: “I don’t think that has had an impact. I think Kaprizov has affected the winger market. I think that has played a factor in solidifying (Kyle) Connor’s deal with the Jets. I think it will affect Kempe. It will affect (Alex) Tuch. It will affect (Artemi) Panarin and so on. (Martin) Necas and Like this.’
But I don’t think the Connor deal really affected Kempe’s side. I think they understand where they stand. He is in the eleven in every respect. I think at the beginning of the offseason, when they started having discussions, what was your starting point? It’s closer to the 10s. And LA was under nine. And you know, I also discussed this with Irf yesterday. That’s kind of where things were back then, and obviously with the market where it is now, everything has changed somewhat.
So I don’t think it is, it really is. I think it’s, you know, they, the team understands where the demand is, but the player, you know, understands where the team demand is. They have to find a way. There’s still a bit of a gap, which I think is why they’re putting things on hold for now and then picking up again in a few weeks.”
