The stars beat the blues as action for the preseason, plus the last about lightning goalkeeper Andrei Vasilevsky, Canucks Netminder Thatcher Demko, Avalanche defender Brent Burns, and more in today’s NHL Morning Coffee Headlines.

Nhl.com: A shootout goal from Sam Steel raised the Dallas stars to a 2-1 victory over St. Louis Blues when the prescription game started on Saturday.

Justin Carbonneau opened the score for the blues 50 seconds in the second period, but Mavrik Bourque tied it later in the period before the stars. Jordan Binnington and Colts Ellis combined to make 33 saves in regulations and overtime for the blues, while stars made of stars Remi Poirier and Antoine Bibeau made 14 saves.

The Hockey News: Tampa Bay Lightning -goalkeeper Andrei Vasilevskiy skipped the practice on Saturday to undergo treatments. Head coach Jon Cooper was not worried and said it was ‘players’ management and he would probably miss a few days.

The province: Vancouver Canucks Goalie Thatcher Demko credits paternity with him to give a new perspective on life. After struggling with a rare knee injury during a tumultuous season for his teammates, the 30-year-old little ones is healthy and is looking forward to the upcoming campaign.

Note from the Spector: a return to the form Demko made a Vezina trophy finalist in 2023-24 will be crucial for the plans of the Canucks to recover from the disappointing performance of last season.

Colorado Hockey Now Aaris that reports Avalanche -Coach Jared Bednar said that Brent Burns will not play in one of the two -year -old matches of the club on Sunday. The experienced defender has adjusted something, but it is not considered serious.

New York Post: Captain Anders Lee van Islanders does not expect to have a contract extension before the start of the regular season. The 35-year-old winger is eligible for an unlimited status of free agent in July.

The Hockey News: Carolina Hurricanes head coach Rod Brind’amour is impressed by the willingness of Logan Stankoven to learn and adapt to the central position. The 22-year-old attacker was part of the return of the Dallas stars in the Mikko Rantanen trade last March.

Note from the Spector: Brind’amour tries to find a suitable second -line center. He previously used Seth Jarvis in that role, but would rather keep it on the right next to the center of Sebastian Aho in the first line. Stankoven had nine points in 19 games in the regular season and eight points in 15 Playoff matches for the hurricanes.

Calgary Sun: The flames hired Marcus Nilson as a European Pro explorer. He spent the last four seasons of his NHL career (2003-04 to 2007-08) with the flames.

Athletics: The Chicago Blackhawks arranged a second lawsuit filed by a former player who sued them because of not acting when he was aware of the allegations of sexual violence against former video coach Brad Alrich.

The club previously arranged a business with former player Kyle Beach when similar accusations were made against Aldrich and the organization that emerged from the 2010 play -offs.
