NHL: Detroit Red Wings forward Patrick Kane will miss his fifth straight game tonight with an upper-body injury.

Daily confrontation: San Jose Sharks forward Will Smith will be out week after week with an upper-body injury.
Kate Shefte of the Seattle Times: Seattle Kraken defenseman Brandon Montour will be out for approximately four weeks after undergoing surgery on his hand and being placed on IR.
Montour suffered the injury during a fight with Brent Burns on December 16. It was hard to see what actually happened, but it looked like several punches could have hit Burns’ helmet.
Forward Berkley Catton is set to return to the lineup. Forwards Jared McCann and Jaden Schwartz will not travel with the team on its four-game road trip that ends tonight.
Then Arritt: Seattle Kraken defenseman Vince Dunn left last night in the third period after a hit by Ducks forward Ross Johnston.

Thomas Drance: Vancouver Canucks coach Adam Foote suggested that forward Elias Pettersson’s return will be delayed because he has tweaked or locked up his upper-body injury. Foote did not appear confident that Pettersson would return straight after the break.
