NHL Injuries: Hurricanes, Blackhawks, Oilers, Blue Jackets, Stars, Wild, Rangers and more

Corey Long: The Carolina Hurricanes healthy scratched Jaccob Slavin because they didn’t want him to play back-to-back games due to his lower-body injury.

Sportsnet: Elliotte Friedman on Hurricanes Seth Jarvis: “Yeah. So one of the big storylines, obviously, with Seth Jarvis’s night. And the good news is that everyone here seems hopeful, but there won’t be a hard explanation until he sees the doctor. This is the last game of Carolina’s road trip. They’re in Tampa night. They’re going home, but it seems hopeful that this won’t be anything that will knock him out for the Olympics. The Hurricanes, by the way, are furious that a penalty wasn’t called imposed for that action.

Sportsnet: Friedman on the Chicago Blackhawks: “Meanwhile, Frank Nazar, he’s out for four weeks, Jeff Blashill said after the game and he got hit with the puck here, no chance to get out of the way there. Nazar, a great young player, broke a recent scoring slump, and that was bad to see him out.”

NHL Rumors: Kadri, Tuch, Hamilton, Hughes, Sherwood, Andersson and O’Reilly

Sportsnet: Friedman on Edmonton Oilers goaltender Tristan Jarry: “The Oilers were in Minnesota today. They lost to the Wild, who are red hot. They’re going home. They’re playing in Vegas tomorrow night, and by then we should get more clarity on Tristan Jarry, who recently left the win. And you know, everyone here is obviously very concerned. They just got him, but we probably won’t know more until we know.”

Then Arritt: Columbus Blues Jackets defenseman Zach Werenski needed help getting off the ice late in the third after blocking a shot. He limped after the game and there was no update.

Striker Miles Wood missed last night’s match with an undisclosed injury.

NHL: Dallas Stars forward Tyler Seguin had surgery Tuesday to repair a torn ACL and they will re-evaluate him after the Olympics.

Jesse Pierce: The Minnesota Wild got many reinforcements back from injury last night – Mats Zuccarello, Marcus Johansson (missed two games, lower body) and Vinnie Hinostroza (13 games, lower body), Jacob Middleton (five games, upper body) and Jonas Brodin (four games, lower body).

Sean Farrell: Montreal Canadiens forward Jake Evans left last night’s game in the first period with a lower-body injury and will not travel with the team to Pittsburgh for today’s game.

NHL Rumors: Minnesota Wild will be aggressive at the deadline

Robbie Stanley: Nashville Predators forward Jonathan Marchessault missed last night’s game with a lower-body injury.

Then Rosen: New York Rangers forward JT Miller left last night’s game in the third period after taking a hit on the right shoulder by Nick Seeler. Coach Mike Sullivan only said he was being evaluated after the game.

Sportsnet: Friedman on the Ottawa Senators: “So Rocky Kleven of the Ottawa Senators got hurt and he doesn’t want to play. Did I call him Rocky Kleven? Tyler Kleven. What am I doing? So he won’t play and he suffered an ankle injury. They’re waiting as if that would be a big loss. He’s a great player, but still undecided at this point about what this is going to be.”

Philadelphia Flyers: Goalkeeper Dan Vladar (upper body) and forward Christian Dvorak (lower body) missed yesterday’s match and are in the daily routine.

NHL Rumors: Cap situation makes adding a forward difficult for the New Jersey Devils

Sportsnet: Friedman on two Vegas Golden Knights players: “For people not familiar, they got a couple of key Olympians out, Shea Theodore, Jack Eichel, no worries about any of them being affected before the Olympics.”
