Sportsnet: Elliotte Friedman on Chicago Blackhawks’ Connor Bedard.
“Now you’ve been wondering about Connor Bedard, and Connor Bedard has amazed everyone with his rise in scoring stats and his overall play. This season he’s been fantastic.”
Jeff Blashill said Bedard was injured before the attack here, and the Blackhawks are still gathering information on that. There is nothing official at this point in terms of clarity. I believe he had an MRI. They are still determining what the plan will be.
They go on a three-game road trip next week, Toronto, Montreal and Ottawa, and unfortunately he is not expected to travel at the start of that. But we’ll see what happens, hopefully not that serious. The collective hockey world collectively groaned when they saw that night.
Sportsnet: Elliotte Friedman on Los Angeles Kings forward Phillip Danault.
“One more note: Phillip Danault is not going to play a night for the LA Kings, but this has nothing to do with the trade. He is sick. So if you see at night that it is a scratch, don’t jump to conclusions, it is an illness and that is why he is not going to play.”
Jesse Pierce: Minnesota Wild defenseman Jonas Brodin missed yesterday’s game with an upper-body injury and will not be in the lineup today. Coach Jon Hynes said Brodin will be out for a “few days.”
Amanda Stein: New Jersey Devils coach Sheldon Keefe said defenseman Simon Nemec will “miss some time” and “it’s not an everyday thing.” They are still determining how long he will be out.
Mike Morreale: Yesterday the Devils were without forwards Arseny Gritsyuk (upper body), Jack Hughes (finger), Zack MacEwen (lower body), Evgenii Dadonov (wrist) and Timo Meier (personal leave) and defensemen Nemec (lower body), Brett Pesce (hand) and Johnathan Kovacevic (knee).
Wes Crosby: San Jose Sharks forward Will Smith left yesterday’s game with an undisclosed injury in the third period after a hit by Parker Wotherspoon. Forward Philipp Kurashev left yesterday’s match in the second period with an upper-body injury.
Elliott Friedman: Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson was in the lineup last night (he left Thursday’s game in the third period).
Dave McCarthy: Maple Leafs forward Dakota Joshua missed last night’s game due to illness.
Darren Bauming: Winnipeg Jets goalie Connor Hellebuyck returned to the lineup. He was injured on November 15 and underwent arthroscopic knee surgery on November 22. He was expected to miss four to six weeks.
