Former Chelsea Wonderkid Charly Musonda left Stamford Bridge in 2022 and only three years later decided to hang his boots in an emotional announcement
Ex-Chelsea star Charly Musonda has decided to retire only 28 three years after leaving West London. The Belgian winger joined the Blues van Anderlcht in 2012 and went through the youth system of the blues to his final breakthrough.
He made his first team debut for Chelsea in 2017 and then made seven senior performances for the club. Big things were expected from Musonda and he was even tipped to be the successor to club icon and fellow countryman Eden Hazard.
But it went down for Musonda in West -Londs after Leen Proverbs with Real Betis, Celtic and Vitesse Arnhem. Eventually he left the club for nothing in 2022 at the end of his contract, with Levante and Cypriot side Anorthosis Famagusta and then made movements for him.
But he left the last last summer and has since been without a club. Musonda has now decided to hang his boots, even though he has only 63 performances under his belt.
Speaking on the podcast on rising ballersHe said: “I have a big announcement today. It is not easy, but it is something I have been thinking about for a long time. After thinking about my experiences and who I am, I realized that I want to live with the goal of inspiring and motivating others.”

Musonda opened the time with Chelsea – and eventually exit – Musonda revealed that his departure from the club The catalyst was in shape behind his decline. He added: “The exit killed me. It killed me mentally. It was the worst.
“At that time I was clear with the reserves, so the plan was to pick up the reserves, get some training and if there were a few games where I could fit at the back of the season, that was the plan.
“Because I had literally improved. I came back in December-Januari and trained with the reserves. I felt great, happy to return his it was a long way for me to be completely fit, but just being able to train was great.
“The first team did very well. It was Covid, so the buildings were split and you would not really see the first team. I met Thomas Tuchel against the back of the season, the manager.
“They prepared for the semi -final of the Champions League and he just said: ‘How do you feel? How are you?.
“It was my first time he met him. He said:” I look at you again and I said: “Don’t worry, I’m back for the preseason.
“Because in my mind it was always for the season and I would come back to the first team and we would see from there. So I came back for the preseason and that was where it became difficult. That was the end of my time at Chelsea.”
