Newcastle United with quadruple boost ahead of Carabao Cup quarter-finals

The quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup are fast approaching for Newcastle United.

In just ten days they have the chance to progress to a potential third semi-final in the four seasons under Eddie Howe.

Wednesday December 17 is Newcastle-Fulham.

Interesting updates ahead of the Carabao Cup quarter-finals, affecting player availability.

On Saturday we finally saw Yoane Wissa on the pitch for Newcastle United, from the bench against Burnley.

This quickly followed news that the striker had opted to remain at Newcastle United in December and January, rather than disappear for five weeks before the AFCON (African Cup of Nations).

A huge boost for United, a period in which the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup will also take place.

However, very different news for Fulham.

When they turn up at St James’ Park in ten days’ time, they will be without three key players.

Calvin Bassey, Alex Iwobi and Samuel Chukwueze are all set to be with Nigeria at AFCON and miss the quarter-final against Newcastle United.

All three are first choice for Fulham and started the defeat against Crystal Palace on Sunday.

Sunderland will obviously be the worst hit of all Premier League clubs and are expected to lose seven players to the AFCON.

The dates and times of the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup:
