Newcastle United perspective on Saturday’s Premier League matches today

3 minutes, 32 seconds Read

Looking at these Premier League games on Saturday, in this last round of games.

Watch the other matches from Newcastle United’s perspective.

Eddie Howe and his players only play at home against Aston Villa on Sunday at 2 p.m.

That’s one of four Premier League games tomorrow, followed by Everton against Leeds on Monday evening.

But for now, as a Newcastle United fan, take a look at today’s five Premier League games and think about what you would like to happen and what is most likely to happen in terms of results.

But let’s take a quick look at the table before any of these Premier League matches are played this weekend.

Premier League table on Saturday morning January 24, 2026

My conclusions and predictions for Saturday’s matches

West Ham v Sunderland (12.30)

There is no doubt who Newcastle United will be cheering on here.

After failing to win any of their last ten Premier League matches, West Ham secured a 2-1 victory over Spurs last time out, thanks to a very late goal from Callum Wilson. That followed a first home win for the Hammers since November 8, 2025, when they defeated QPR in the FA Cup.

Sunderland had failed to win any of their last five Premier League games before struggling past a decimated Crystal Palace team on Wearside in their final match, with Palace losing Guehi just before the 2–1 defeat.

It has been 91 days since the Mackems last won an away game in the Premier League.

This is the kind of game West Ham need to win to have any chance of surviving this season and at least they have some confidence and momentum now. Hopefully a home win, but I think a draw is most likely here.

Burnley v Spurs (3 p.m.)

Their last fifteen games in domestic football have seen Spurs with nine defeats and just two wins.

As they gear up for Champions League matches and have also carried the luck in Europe, so many Spurs players clearly have hearts as big as a pea, and indeed take the p…

Burnley has only lost to Newcastle and Brighton in the last seven games. Scott Parker’s team beat Millwall 5-1 in the FA Cup and drew in the Premier League against Bournemouth, Everton, Man U and Liverpool, most recently at Anfield.

I wouldn’t spend a cent on Spurs winning this and like West Ham against Sunderland, Burnley will see this as the kind of game they need to win.

I think they are a great bet to do this.

Fulham v Brighton (3 p.m.)

Brighton predictably beat Man U at Old Trafford in the FA Cup, but have won just one of their last nine PL matches, five of which were drawn.

Fulham, on the other hand, have found some really good form, winning eight games, drawing two and only losing to Newcastle in the Carabao Cup. Last time they lost 1-0 in Leeds, but were very unlucky.

I think a draw is most likely in this match, but if there is a winner I think it will be Fulham.

Man City v Wolves (3pm)

After twelve consecutive defeats in all competitions, Wolves are suddenly unbeaten after five games, winning two and drawing three.

Play with more freedom and play much better…

Man City were terrible at Old Trafford, losing 2-0 last weekend after drawing their previous three PL matches. Pep’s side were then worse than terrible as they lost 3-1 to Bodo/Glimt.

No doubt an easy win for Man City will be on everyone’s mind, BUT that’s not what the recent stats are pointing to.

I can’t predict what will happen here, but I certainly wouldn’t bet on Man City winning against ridiculously poor odds.

Bournemouth v Liverpool (5.30pm)

Liverpool have drawn their last four PL games, failing to beat Leeds, Fulham, Arsenal and Burnley.

Bournemouth have drawn five of their last eight PL matches, winning one and losing two.

The Cherries have beaten Spurs 3-2 and drawn 1-1 at Brighton in their last two PL games. Brighton were fortunate to record a draw with the equalizer late in the match.

I’m backing Bournemouth to get at least a point here, but I think they’ll beat a faltering Liverpool.
