Newcastle Preview (A)

Newcastle away from home has not been nice for Arsenal. Four of our last five visits have led to a loss. There is something about that stadium and their style that has been problematic for Arsenal. This weekend, five points behind Liverpool after five games, the story really has to change. Leaving everything outside of three points is starting to weigh on your title-contenting capacity … and I don’t think I’m dramatic here.

It goes without saying, I am still surprised that we have again received a start of the hell of contractors in the Premier League. Liverpool, Newcastle, City and United in the first six games feels like a punishment … and Liverpool has certainly not had the same treatment for the second season.

But we are given the hand that we get and when we win this game, we are pretty nice considering the Churn in the team and the beast of the run.

I don’t even really know what the problem is … Bar that does not have the margins.

My cousins shared this this morning in the GC and the summons together where we are with Mikel Arteta. We all have it on paper, we just don’t have the special thing you need to win a title … Happiness in the margins.

How do you solve yourself?

We decided depth about individual splendor in the summer … and we still have to know if that was the right decision. From a logistics, so far, I don’t think a team that has had a serious injury this season in every game can claim that depth was a bad idea. What we still have to discover is whether this team has the sauce in the margin.

The football so far has been felt very familiar this season, maybe even a little more awkward sometimes. You have to expect that with the changes we have made to the staff. But at some point we have to see signs of life that the new players make a difference for Open-Play XG opportunities. We have a new striker that needs to be fed … feed it. We have new creative players, let them make. We know that our problem slowly breaking attacks and bad decisions has been in the last third … Break quickly, be more aggressive for the goal.

There is very little evidence to support the idea that an attacking approach with low Margins with unreal defense is a better recipe than a full attack with a higher risk tolerance. The task for Arteta is how we can call the attack and retain the firmness that we have had in all compositions this season so far. We are currently the best defensive team in the world … but the longer the Stode goes, the more you have to feel that the attack takes a hit for the priority of Arteta … defending.

Newcastle has problems this season. We are about to see how much of Eddie Howe’s story was built to have an Alex Isak in the side. They had a terrible summer of unrest. They lost Isak at the end of the window and I am not sure whether the sports director combination of Eddie Howe and his cousin have made enormous improvements with Jacob Ramsey, Elanga, Wissa, Ramsdale and Woltemade.

Their story so far was … Tight in defense, tighter in attack. Three goals gave three goals scored. Bournemouth kept them up to four attempts with only one on goal. They are actually struggling with a more poverty version of what fans of Arsenal complain about. Very well defensive, but the attack is not yet completely convincing.

That is what will make this weekend so difficult for Arsenal. Saka is no more than 60 minutes good and it is a bit much to lean on Downman to pick up play at the age of 15. Gyökeres has not had a good time this season against large, powerful defenders who easily match his strength and do not struggle with his pace. Then we are great on the left after 70 minutes when we make changes, but we are so long of the feeling that we have moved things forward.

For me, the great shift in the mood must come from Martin Ødegaard that returns from an impact injury to his shoulder. We need him, fit, shoot and take in a ‘the game towards them’ mood. We need him back to his best, pick bags and free our faster players. His shape is so important that I will go on a limb here and say that if he does not return to his best, we will not win the Premier League.

That can feel hopeless for you … but that is because you miss the poisonous positivity DNA that I have. You, who sit there, hit the table and shout: ‘He never comes back to his best’ nobody helps and it is ashamed of your children. Stop it. Martin is one of the best in the game, he has had a difficult year, but he will find his game and he will unlock the big bump in the front.

He has no choice.

We have to ask Newcastle aggressively and ask questions to those we have not done in the past. There is no Isak to chase us this time and Woltemade is so different from him, the big debate in Newcastle is or the 6 Foot 6 striker that they have bought just before £ 70 million is actually a number 10 … A position that Newcastle does not have. He was dangerous in the Bundesliga because he is so unexpected. He is creative, but also unusually HLEB-like on the ball for a player who is so long. He is difficult to deal with because of his wingspan and he can be very Fox-in-the-box if he gets the chance. His danger to us is on the edge of the box, I am not sure if he is a worries as Isak was in transition.

This game does not give us many transitional options. Newcastle will defend deeply, as they always do, and they will try to break on speed. That probably means that we have Eze on the left with Ødegaard takeover of Merino in midfield. We need special moments in the last third part and we have to be gyökkeres more with runs. The team must also stop treating the Swede as if he can do Kai Havertz things on the ball. He is a Finisher. Find him with cuts and fast balls over the top so that he can run to the keeper. He does not link a game, he does not hold the ball up and creates magic, that’s just not his game … He is a beast, so feed him.

It should be a good game … it’s a must-win. Especially with Liverpool 1-0 down and battered by Palace in the first 10 minutes.
